Deanna Ewers is an artist with a focus on storytelling and educational content and is the creator of Sunny Smog.
With her illustrative, design and storytelling skills she has years of experience working on multiple educational apps, games and animations. From being lead artist for the number one provider of online driver’s education to lead artist on PBS Kids and WGBH’s “Ruff Ruffman’s Monumental Mini Golf” Their first Unity based, multiplayer, cooperative game. These experiences as well as her personal history of having her own curiosity dismissed has led her to the desire to create Sunny Smog, a storytelling platform with a learning system devised to empower children’s curiosity about the wonders of art and science in their neighborhoods. With the positive response and interest in the 2D version she is now taking it to VR where exciting, embodied discovery and learning can happen.
Deanna’s love for art and science and where they overlap and intersect is a driving force for her interest in sharing with kids how much THEY HAVE TO OFFER as well as how much the world has to offer them.
From taking macro photos of a fly’s wings to picking up seed pods from the sidewalk to admire their form to chatting with the crows. You can often find her appreciating the world around her even in seemingly uninteresting places.
